Remington rimfire gunsmith ??
Have a need for a gunsmith familiar with Remington 41 rimfire bolt.
Sentimental value of this gun is high,so my brother would like to get it fixed.
He left the gun with his girl friend so she could shoot a groundhog that was eating her garden.
When said groundhog appeared, she got excited, pulled the cocking piece way back and rotated it clockwise(?) too far.The bolt is now jammed in the cocked position.
The bolt can be removed from the action.
Our location is SW Pennsylvania but can ship bolt anywhere.
I can't find an exploded diagram of this bolt online and my big Numrich catalog just shows the complete bolt. The older I get,the better I used to be !!

Re: Remington rimfire gunsmith ??
sounds like she rotated it into the "safe" position. I am not too familiar with remington 22 rifles of that period, but can say that many winchester rifles that are comparable used a rotation of the cocking piece as a "safety". try pulling back on the cocking piece and rotating it back into the original orientation.

Re: Remington rimfire gunsmith ??
She rotated the lever on the rear of the bolt about 90 degrees past the "safe"
position.
It no longer is aligned with the pin that determines the firing pin and the safe position.

Manyplews,
Here is what you have. Inside the bolt there should be 6 pieces. The part that was turned to far, the fire pin extension, retractor spring, retractor spring plunger, mainspring plunger, main spring, and firing pin.
Now if it is stuck, my guess without seeing/taking apart would be that the retractor spring is either twisted/broke, combination of both. I do believe that the model 33 is the same as the model 41 for it took over in 1936.

Manyplews,
If you find someone good, can you share the info ... I have a Rem pump .22 with no Model # on it, only serial and patent #'s and the action won't lock - pull the trigger and the shot blows the action open.
I believe the gun about 80 + yrs. old and can't find good smith to repair it ... have been told necessary part will need to be handmade.
Had the gun since we were kids ... bought it from our Hoffman's Dairies Milkman (Golden Guernsey), Bob Bolton of Tylersport, Pa.

Manyplews,
You have extractors and retractors.
Here is the schematic for the 33. Hope this helps.

Re: Remington rimfire gunsmith ??
Gene,
Thanks for taking the time to post that.
I blew it up in photoshop and that bolt is definitely a different design than the 41 bolt.
Another fellow told me the 341 bolt might be similar, but I haven't found a blowup of that either.
