My oldest brother claims the earth is only 6000yrs old.
He was the runt of the litter and may possibly be the milk mans son.

Re: History of Time vs Creationism picture
Before we delve too far into the proof stuff, let me remind everyone that the philosophy of science dictates that science does not prove anything. Science only disproves or supports a hypothesis or theory based upon the results of an experiment. If your experiment disproves a hypothesis or theory, you work on changing the hypothesis or theory. If your experiment supports a hypothesis or theory, you work on developing an experiment that tests it even further.
If you want to work in an academic field where proof exists, go look at math.

"Bored shitless with doing nothing, God started a plan to do something"
Well now I know I was created in God's image.
I never saw the conflict of religion and science until the religious folks started making up their own 'facts.' My rational was this: Why would a god, being god and able to create anything from nothing, take the dirt of the earth and elements which already exist to build a human? Just as a builder first creates bricks, it seemed perfectly logical to a me that a god would first make base elements to form the more complex compositions. Genesis didn't conflict with evolution or the big bang. "Let there be light." I'd say an entire universe of superheated white-hot gas which has now cooled to static radio waves is about as much light as there can possibly be.
Might I suggest that he learns how to determine the distance of stars by parallax as well as intensity, research the speed of light, and then explain why some of those flashy things in the sky are, according to calculation, vastly further than 6,000 light years away.

Re: History of Time vs Creationism picture
That's pretty funny, but it begs the question of whether God was idle before he created the universe. Or perhaps I should say this universe.
Edit: actually, since time and space are quantities of the universe, it might not make sense to have a concept of "before" from the perspective of an observer or creator outside the universe.Last edited by Philbert; April 23rd, 2009 at 09:22 PM.
