    Thumbs down PMag Failure? (pics)

Went to the range today and took two AR's and about 10 mags.

I only use USGI mags and occasionally a few pmags.

Now this particular pmag (#19) never gave me problems before and probably has a hundred rounds through this mag alone.

But today it caused a FTF on three occasions on two different rifles. I was shooting LC M855, Israeli M855 and some brown bear .223 .

None of my other mags gave me an issue.
At the time of shooting it was 91℉ and a little humid.

Anyone else have occasional problems Pmags?

I've only had serious issues with one gun that didn't like the old straight 20 rounder P mags. Would cause a BOB style malfunction.

They are disposable devices so mark it Range only and rock on.

Also eliminate the ammo, especially the IMI 855 as an issue. There have been some really overpressure, super shitty batches.

Clean and replace spring. They wear out. Before I knew better I used to stretch them. Don't do that.

The imi ammo I have is from 1997 .
I bought 3,000 rounds of it for a decent price.

I put it in rotation with newer LC M855 that I have.

Just literally throw it out. $10 ain't worth the future headaches. Unless you want to keep to practice malfunction clearing.

This is a good idea. Keep it for that @ true range.

I always considered mags as disposable items. No matter what the brand is...at some point you will have to replace the mag. As others have already stated, it's a $10 item and this is the salad days of magazine prices.

I typically do not buy PMags as I prefer Lancers much more, but I never had any issues with them when I owned PMags. Only issue my friends had were the feed lips can crack (which is why I like Lancer metal feed lips).

Probably just the mag then. I had a batch of IMI from "the panic" era that was plum awful!

Occasional? No. I had constant issues with my first two PMags in 2009. They would not feed in full auto. Also, when I jammed them with ammo using the BETA personal loader the flexible sides let the stack go haywire and I had to turn the mags upside-down to shake the rounds out of them.

Haven't had occasion to use them since.

Bring on the hate, PMAG lovers.

So, I have (among others) an actual Colt AR. Which, ironically enough, shipped with a PMAG.

PMAGs actually reliably seat on a closed bolt for me in said Colt without slapping the shit out of the mag (or a proper push/pull) when loaded to 30 rounds. That's not true of any other metal mag vendor (inclusive of NHMTG, D&H, Brownells). So, that's what I run, even above the vaunted "Colt" branded metal mags.

Now, what I have noticed is that non-black PMAGs don't like to drop free when it gets stupid hot outside and the gun is warm. Had this happen just this weekend.

PMAGS seem to function in more guns more regularly than anything else I've got. I'll take the occasional busted feed lip in exchange.

But that's my $0.02. Run what works in your gun.
