.40 S & W brass value
Does anyone have an idea of what 10 lbs of the above noted brass is worth? It is range brass. Is the value more to the reloader or the scrap yard?

It's more to the reloader if you can find a buyer.

Re: .40 S & W brass value
It's worth about $2 dollars. Just give me your contact info and I'll double that offer to $4. lol
Seriously though, About $50 - $100 per 1000 pieces is fair depending on the condition. New .40 S&W brass goes for about $125 per 1000, so range brass is going to fetch a little less. I don't know how much it goes for per pound. I would assume that it would be more valuable to the reloader than as scrap unless they're in really bad condition.

Re: .40 S & W brass value
The reason I'm asking is that it is something I don't reload, but I often find. I was wondering what a local company that reloads would value it. I'm not looking for money, just store credit.

Re: .40 S & W brass value
best bet is probably to count the casings and then sell them...if you knock the primers out, you can usually get more.
I had a hard time selling my 1500+ casings that were deprimed and tumbled with some heads and a LEE die set..I forget what I ended up getting for it, but it was just over $100 or just under..
but now it may be easier as I'm sure more people are reloading.Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty

Re: .40 S & W brass value
As a reloader, I would disagree. I want to see what the primers look like. Were they shot from a Glock? Is the primer original, or is the brass on it's second (or more) reload? Decapping is part of the first stage resizing, so having the primer out does not eliminate any extra steps.
Respectfully,

Re: .40 S & W brass value
I didn't get much for what I was told was 1200 pieces. At least they didn't go to the scrap dealer and hopefully my way of recycling did good for the sport.
