Default Where is the rape, murder, shootings and cries for help?

    I'm confused...

Several years ago during extensive flooding caused by a massive storm a portion of a cities population basically turned on itself and did everything possible to destroy society and run a muck resulting in para-military PMC's to storm the city with police and military and disarm everyone. Meanwhile hand outs were demanded, a city structure was turned into a breeding ground of filth and violence and the goverment was blamed for not doing enough...

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/0....ap/index.html

Flooding is occurring on scales never seen before all throughout the midwest, entire towns and cities are under water as levees are breaking and homes are being lost. People are taking shelter in schools...

and no reports of looting, rioting, shootings, rape, murder... no reports of violence that I've heard yet... Guns haven't been confiscated, PMC's haven't been called in to restore order... but the damage is just as bad if not worse so far and its getting worse.

Can someone help me here? Can someone explain whats going on? Is the media hiding all the bad stuff from us?
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Yes I can explain it, the differences are in black and white, though.

I'm stepping away from this one, as the temptation is overwhelming, and the fear of an infraction/ ban seems to hold little sway at the moment.

Speaking of colors, these threads sure do bring out our "true" ones.

Ignoring the obvious will not solve the problem.

In order to solve something, one must realize what the problem is, and all we have to do is look at the facts.

Thanks for calling us racists, EM

It doesn't have to do with race, limiting one's self to seeing just in color is extremely dangerous- look at the economic factors; look at the population densities; look at the local social programs and institutions; look at media coverage. I haven't been following this story, and I didn't follow Katrina. However, there are many differences and similarities that need to be factored in before conclusions are set in stone.

I will issue a preemptive warning based on the direction I see this going.

Tread lightly here folks. You know the rules.

That said, I think the NOLA problem was more a city culture issue. Regardless of color, cities harbor more "bad dudes" than does the typical areas of the midwest being affected in the current situation.

N.O. was a timebomb waiting to go off and the storm was what was needed to set it off.
