Default Sheriff's employee takes documents from defense attorney

IANAL nor do I know Arizona's rules of procedure, but common sense tells you that the session must stop if something illegal has happened in the court.

Wow, the deputy clearly removed a paper from deep within a file on the Defense Attorney's desk and had another deputy confiscate it.

Just wow... the State can just go through privileged files now...

Both these deputies should be fired. But we know that will never happen.

The judge is obviously a pin head, She should have ordered the officers to immediately produce the document or go to jail for contempt.
Instead she states she doesn't know what happened, lets move on.

Actually the Judge should be fired too. I simply can not comprehend a judge putting up with that kind of shenanigans in her court. The deputies should have been called on the carpet immediately! In less they had (and I can't see any way how) some good reason to suspect that that document (not what was on it - the physical document itself) represented a threat to the physical security of the court, they had absolutely no right to touch, much less read or take it. Instant contempt sanctions and the Sheriff should be hauled down immediately to the court to "explain."

For all those that think Sheriff Joe and his band of merry men are tough-minded civil servants, take heed.

Quoted for truth. That wolf in sheeps clothing (or, to be more factual, that Fascist in Sheriffs clothing) hides himself behind the flag while his cronies do crap like this.

That being said, that is far from the worst thing I've seen occur in a court room. Spend a few days just sitting in court watching and you'll be amazed at how broken the system is.
Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

Not only should the deputies be jailed and the judge removed, but the defendant's case should be dismissed with prejudice. Police fucking with your papers illegally = get out of jail free. If he killed 20 nuns, then turn him loose. When he kills again, convict him and then give him AND the deputies that caused it the needle.

Shame on you! Sheriff Joe is a hero for law and order! He makes big tough criminals wear pink! Now repent your blasphemy.
