    Default Ordered FS2000 Standard...Questions...

I just ordered an FS2000 Standard, and while it might be a month or two until it's in, it's still bugging me that I don't know the answer to this question..

Does the FS2000 Standard have a 1913/pictanny rail underneath the factory optic or not??????????

    Thanks,
    Steve

    From Wiki :: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_F2000

The lower hand guard can be removed in the same manner as the F2000 to accept the same variety of accessories. It comes with a Picatinny rail optic rail along with backup iron sights.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picatinny_rail

The standard was first published by the Picatinny Arsenal and carries the official title MIL-STD-1913. It is also known by the NATO designation STANAG 2324.
So.... I believe that the correct answer is.... Yes.

EDIT:: Found this pic of it.

The FS2000 sports both adjustable auxiliary iron sights and a top-mounted M1913 rail for mounting optical, electronic or laser sighting systems.

I am talking about the FS2000 STANDARD, (not the normal FS2000 with factory irons and visible picatinny rail) the civilian version of the F2000, with the included 1.6 scope/factory optic.

The military version not only has the picatinny rail underneath, but also what amounts to an onboard computer. That is NOT the same version that the civilian FS2000 Standard is.

On the FN website link, it's a picture and wording for FS2000 STANDARD, but the description with back up irons is not the standard.

Thanks anyway though. I'd like info. from someone who has hands on experience with this. I have read all of the links already!

    I wonder if this helps....

The stock has built-in standard rails on the top of the weapon (for different sights and scopes etc) and a mounting point ahead of trigger guard, where additional modules may be installed (such as grenade launchers, non-lethal modules etc). In the basic configuration, the upper rail mount is fitted with a 1.6X magnification optical sight, and the lower mounting point is covered by a removable handguard.
The standard low-magnification combat scope, which has a back-up open sights on its top cover, may be replaced by any other scope on Piatiny-style mount, or with FN's proprietary computerized fire control module with laser rangefinder, for both the rifle and 40 mm grenade launcher.

That's the military version. The civilian version isn't the same. For what it's worth, two of the FN sales reps weren't able to answer my questions either (on the phone with the owner of the store where I'm ordering it), and I emailed FN and they need to check. I can't find anyone that owns the factory optic/ standard fs2000 either!!! Last month, 5 FS2000 Standards were alloted to 50 FN dealers.

I really do appreciate the effort, and if for nothing else, the links are good reading!!!

Well damn... If the FN sales rep doesn't know.... wtf? I don't think I can find ya the answer then.

The FS2000 is one of the coolest looking rifles out there. I'd love to shoot one someday. That and the P90.

Logic tells me though that the optics module can be removed and a rail will be underneath. It would be stupid not to have one. Good luck.

thanks for the link ssom, I emailed him asking. I also emailed two of the gun stores online that seem to always be selling them, and they told me that they didn't have any in stock to check, and have been ordering them for an on customer basis.

I have the PS90 tri rail version because the PS90 optics version couldn't just be removed. My intentions were good at the time, but I really wish I picked the optics version instead for originality!!
