Thoughts on S&W M&P 15 ?
Since prices have dropped lately. I was contemplating purchasing one. Can anyone comment on the quality and reliability?

I have 2, one in 5.56 and another 5.45..........they easily compare to my Colt for accuracy and build quality. I've never had a malfunction with either of them and they both digest brass or steel case ammunition with out complaint.

Re: Thoughts on S&W M&P 15 ?
Although i havent owned on i have shot a few and find they are of better quality then many and on par with all the others out there.
They shoot very well and they are well made.
if i didnt like the stags better then all the others i would buy one.
Dollar for dollar they are ok and a way better value then Colt which you only buy a name and nothing more. they are a little more pricey then my stags and DPMS, but just as good. had to use one in a carbine class for a few days and it worked flawlessly for the 1,500rds i put through it.

I had a M&P 15 upper on a DPMS lower, and I certainly was a fan of the M&P upper.
Actually, I kindof wish I still had it. I liked it a touch better than my Rock River.Fred

Re: Thoughts on S&W M&P 15 ?
I don't know if they changed but I had an early version of the M&P 15 and it would not take PMAGS or 5.56 ammo, only .223. the handguards were real short, diameter wise but i had a rail put on so that wasn't a problem. I've since sold mine and have a Rock River now. I like the RR more. Wouldn't buy another M&P ever again, but that's just based on my own bad experiance. Everyone else seems to like em.

I have the M&P15T and the stag model 2, and the M&P has been but thru the paces 1,400 rds so far and no problems and very accurate. I would recommend buying one.

I loved my MP&15, over 6K rounds through it with no issues. Not one FTF or FTE.
I solid it during the massive hype to fund another project since I have a couple of ARs

Re: Thoughts on S&W M&P 15 ?
I had the same problem on my 15T. S&W told me it was PMAGs, but I argued so they asked me to send it in. Not sure what they did, but they fixed the problem, all for free even though I was not the original owner. Had the safety lever broke off too, they repaired that and replaced a bunch of internal parts for free and gave me a free rifle case for the inconvenience. It became a solid gun afterward, but I sold it so I can build my own because I didn't want to customize an already nice factory gun. It just didn't have any personality (hard to explain), that's all.
