SKS specialist in the Philly area?
Yugo SKS cycles brass but not steel. I've taken every suggestion and it just won't cycle steel.
Looking for someone who would know how to repair/modify it to run more reliably.
Thank you for your time and consideration!

Since o'biden prohibited import of Russian ammo your problem is mostly solved.

Re: SKS specialist in the Philly area?
I had a similar problem with a mosin, the breech would get so hot the shell would fuse to it and
wouldn't be able to get the bolt open due to the lacquer on the steel case.
Is that a similar problem or something totally different?

Re: SKS specialist in the Philly area?
A lot of the crappy Eastern European ammo is undercharged. That could be part of the issue. A through cleaning may also help.

Have you replaced the gas valve (assuming yours has the shutoff on the gas block)

Re: SKS specialist in the Philly area?
Well I've since moved to York County (Goodbye Philly!!!), but here is my experience since I posted this.
I sent it to Murrays in Texas for a "Neck and Throat Ream" service. Well, it worked. Rifle runs anything now. However eventually the need to shoot steel will be greatly diminished, considering I just dropped a bunch on Yugo Surplus.

Re: SKS specialist in the Philly area?
Yeah I had. Even though the rifle was unissued with no rust or wear. The throat and neck service from Murrays fixed it.
