Default Ammo Price Increase at Dick's

I was reading Dick's weekly flyer today and noticed .40's and .45's are up $2.00 a box. I bought both calibers on Black Friday for $14.98 a box if you bought 10. Now they are both $16.98.

That would be helpful if they actually had ammo in stock...

I went last weekend to the Whitehall store, and they had no .40 ammo except self-defense specialty ammo. And I believe they only had one 20-round box of that...

Had to march down the strip mall to Wal-Mart and buy some WWB. They seemed well-stocked...

I don't think going back to yoru regular price after a "Black friday SALE" counts as a price hike...

Not 100% sure as I dont buy .40 and ,45, but is $17 that unresonable, I know when i see .357 at that price, I am quite happy these days

Between the 2 Greensburg stores, I found what I needed although I have to admit, you're right, they did not have much in stock to last for the times they listed.

No, it's a price hike. I'm not saying whether $16.98 is expensive or not in today's market, but a $2.00 increase in 1 week is not chump change either. They have been $14.98 for a while if you bought 10.

The sale was buy 1 get 1 half off.

I only buy 9mm on sale and it seems that they vary there sales between 7.98 and 9.98. Just wait and check the next few flyers.

The Fairless Hills store has not had the Rem. 9 M/M in stock for over 5 weeks. They have not had .38's, .40's, or .357's for a couple of weeks. Only a couple of boxes of Hydra-Shocks. All kinds of excuses and stories from the employees and management. This seems to be the MO of Dick's.

I can almost guarantee you that these prices are not permanent. Dicks does this every once in a while to scare people. They have been doing this for at least a year. It usually goes like this:

    Week 1 - High price
Week 2 - High or Medium price
Week 3 - Medium or low price
    Week 4 to 6 - low price

I check the ads every week even if I have a lot of ammo. If you buy your ammo there make sure you buy gift cards at Giant Eagle first, I think they still have $0.20 fuel perks on gift cards. So $250 in Dick's gift cards gets you $1.00 off per gallon, can't beat that.

I have not bought from Dick's recently but the Wal-Mart I have bought my last couple boxes of ammo from is consistently out of .357. Last time I bought a box was about a month ago, with none restocked that know of. I went there Saturday to stock up on another box and they were out yet again. So, I picked up another box of Winchester 9mm as a consolation.

same price at Walmart for the 165gr WWB 50rd of .40

I can reload 100rds of .40 with 155gr Magtech Guardian Gold JHP heads for $15-16...that's using a more expensive head, too...I could probably load 100 rds for $10 using lead heads or buying heads in bulks of 1,000.
