I was in my apartment and overheard this encounter ...

My neighbor was working on his truck in the parking lot of the apartment building we live in when a police officer showed up inquiring which apartment one of other tenants lived in. My neighbor politely told the officer which apartment number and that it was around back. Just as the officer was about to round the corner of the building he stopped and turned around and said to my neighbor in a demanding and snotty manner as follows ...

"Oh ... By the way ... You address me as SIR !"

Now the way I see it this officer is apparently not only not aware that "SIR" is a title of nobility which is strickly forbidden by the Constitution, but after a little snooping I get the impression he was always an underacheiver in school who was picked on and bullied and now thinks his badge means 'POWER ALMIGHTY' (revenge time) and it's going to his head and I feel he needs to be relieved before something serious, like another Rodney King incident or worse, happens !

What do you think ? ...

If the responses to the conversation were in a polite mannerly way and co-operative,,, My response? Well Gee Officer I didn't know the Queen was in town! My appologies for the oversight!

The Chief of this Department needs to be informed and this Officer put in his place!

It's BS. Especially because the guy helped him out with the info he wanted. Did the cop even say "Thank You"? A little call to the higher ups might be in order.

Ditto,As much as I've been through and my age alone,I would be the "SIR" here,you young bastage bunck !! It ain't manditory,but I am the SIR !!
