Default Mosin Nagant- first range test.

I just returned from the range after shooting my new Mosin Nagant (well, not really new, but it's new to me). I purchased it from Seneca Arms this afternoon and I couldn't be happier. It is quite accurate for being over 60 years old. It is a blast to shoot, sounds like a cannon. One thing I hate to love about it is the recoil. The rifle certainly lets you know you are shooting a high power round, but it makes it that much more fun. Anyway, anyone considering purchasing a Mosin Nagant- I would recommend it; very inexpensive and a blast to shoot!

Agreed... the old Russian rifles are a great value, lots of history and can be had at a great price. I just bought a M91/30 rifle, dated 1939, at our local Dunham's in Altoona this week for $59.99. It's been re-arsenaled, haven't shot it yet, but got it all cleaned up and ready to shoot. Was really surprised to find all the numbers match; receiver, bolt, magazine, butt plate and the metal/wood is in great condition... bore looks very nice also. These old war horses are a super bargain!

remember, if its a M44, shoot it with the bayonet out, as intended.

the folded bayo pressures the barrel over to the left.

I love my M44s, fricking cannon, and HUGE flash.

example of the typical huge by large fireball a m44 throws out...its even better with commercial hunting rounds with no flash retardants

Nice picture Jay Bell. I've fired mine right around dusk, when the trees are blocking the last rays - it's awesome. Imagine a company or a battalion of riflemen firing these things - would look like a magnificent ground effect fireworks display.
Not too good for night firing, though. Blinding and give away your position.
Always remember, tracers work both ways. LOL
