Default What to do with my firearms after moving from PA to NY?

Would I have to sell them all since I won't be able to take them with me? Or can I just rent a storage and keep them there? If that's possible, will I be able to retrieve them when I visit PA to shoot at a gun club even though I'll have NY residency?

I would leave them in Pa if at all possible. Not sure about long guns, but you need a NY pistol permit to even own/touch a pistol in NY, and NYC fugetaboutit. All the guns need to be NY/NYC compliant regardless.

You're doing it backwards. I grew up in NY and loved it but after living in PA, I'd never go back. Do you have any family in PA to care for the firearms? I wouldn't leave them in a storage facility since they are good targets for thieves.

No amount of money or ass is worth moving to NY.

Moving to New York is evidence of mental instability. But until the govt figures that out, you can certainly store them in a free state like PA, as long as you retain custody and control. While in PA, your shameful status as a NY resident is irrelevant, their unconstitutional laws don't reach into PA, and PA has no barriers to non-prohibited persons possessing firearms and shooting at ranges.

You would still be subject to the laws on transporting handguns, or transporting loaded long guns.

I once had to park pistols in PA with family because my adorable wife had a job in NY that required us moving there. It was hell. I would not do it again nor recommend anyone wasting their life up there.

Thanks to all for the comments and advice. I had no choice in moving, employment obligations. Will try to leave all firearms with remaining family in PA.

I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and only go back to visit family. Just by asking the question of what to do with your firearms means that you shouldn't go. stay in PA. spend your moving money on more guns and ammo.

Where are you going in NY? It costs a lot more to live there ( if you want to call it living ). Did they triple your income?
