    Arrow Glock Mag Question

i couldn't find the answer in the search and may seem like a dumb question but anyway, i have 3 mags 2 in the house and 1 that i carry extra with me and don't use them when i target practice. Is it ok to leave the rounds in the unused mags for long periods of time? They have been in for about 3 months. Will the spring wear out?

i would try to rotate them. i'm no expert, but, i can't see how a spring can stay compressed indefinitely, and not be affected.

I've heard of people rotating them every three to six months or so. From my perspective, a new mag only costs as much as a box of ammo. That little bit of extra preparedness seems pretty cheap.

It has been proven beyond doubt that what damages a spring is the constant loading and unloading.

Either keep them loaded, or keep them unloaded. But don't rotate them.

Leaving mags loaded does nothing to damage the spring. People find mags from Vietnam that have been loaded since that time and they still function perfectly.

    cycling springs weakens them.

leaving springs compressed does not weaken them as long as they are not compressed past their elastic limit.

here is an interesting article on it:

LorDiego01...speaks the truth, my grandfather recently died & left me 6 @ USGI mags 30 rounders loaded he brought home from Vietnam. I shot 3 that functioned as good as new..including the ammo. Saved the other 3 to pass on to my son.

Thread hijack - Is the same true for leaving a Glock loaded and firing pin cocked for an indefinite period of time?
