Moving to PA with gifted handgun
Hello, I am a first time handgun owner moving to PA from Oregon with a new handgun that was bought for me by my father. He registered it in California prior to putting it in his luggage to bring up to me.
What will it take, if anything, to get the gun registered in my name?
Also, as I pursue a concealed weapon permit in the future, will I be required to show proof of gun registration under my name?
I appreciate any thoughts.

Re: Moving to PA with gifted handgun
Absolutely nothing. PA has no "registration" process. Certain types of sales and transfers are recorded, but you don't need to do anything when moving into the state with firearms.
PA issues a LTCF (License To Carry Firearms), not a "CWP". It is not tied to any specific firearm and it allows you to legally carry any firearm you have legal possession of (including one borrowed from someone else).Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Welcome to the Commonwealth of PA. No "gun registration" here.

Re: Moving to PA with gifted handgun
He's giving it to you as a resident of another state? He's from CA and you're from OR - was it transferred thru a dealer in OR to you when he gave it to you? If not, you better clear that up.
Once in PA, there is no registration you have to deal with. Its highly suggest that the original transfer of the handgun be cleared up with interstate transfer laws.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag
