Carry at macungie memorial park
I will be participating in the Macungie memorial park truck show this month and would like to CC with my FL CWP. Since it is not a PA license does anyone know off the top of there heads if there is a school within 1,000 feet of the grounds? Also, there are no obscure park regulations/laws I need to know about, correct?
Thanks!
Glenn

Best I could determine, the closest school (Eyer Middle School) is about 1300 feet from the eastern boundary of the park.
As to other laws, if you are bringing your handgun from NJ you might want to consider that there is definite legal risk if you are found in possession of it while you are actually in NJ off your property - your FL CWP notwithstanding.
Can't address park rules, if any.IANAL

Wouldnt his Fl CWP exempt him from the 1000 foot rule?

No. See the subsection below snipped from 18 U.S.C. § 922 (q) (2), the GFSZA of 1990:
(bold and italics added by me)
(A) It shall be unlawful for any individual knowingly to possess a firearm that has moved in or that otherwise affects interstate or foreign commerce at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone.
(B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a firearm—
(i) on private property not part of school grounds;
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;
(iii) that is—
(I) not loaded; and
(II) in a locked container, or a locked firearms rack that is on a motor vehicle;
ETA: This is a law that needs to be changed to allow for states' firearms reciprocity agreements.Last edited by kcr121; June 16th, 2010 at 12:40 PM.

Re: Carry at macungie memorial park
I think the wording of that law is very ambiguous. One could argue that since PA is in reciprocity with Florida, a FL license should cover you.
You would make a great test case.
