    Default Beware the drive-by bayonetting...

Ok so the FR-8 is nowhere near as long as a MN 91/30...

I've been looking for a reasonably priced one for a few years. An older gentleman was walking the gunshow last weekend with it over his shoulder. he was asking $300; got it for $225. Finish is thin in spots, wood is excellent, bore is crisp and clean. Now one of my 121,0000 CETME bayonets has a home.

Basically it was a transitional rifle for the Spanish military as they moved from the 8mm Mauser bolt action to the 7.62 NATO CETME battle rifle.

It's a large ring mauser action, and from the front of the receiver to the butt it's pretty much the same Model 1943 Mauser used by many European nations. This one, however was built in 1955 with the barrel from the C model CETME in 7.62 NATO as one of the training and transitional arms.

What looks like a gas tube under the barrel is actually a hollow tube for storing cleaning supplies and the lock mount for the bayonet (same bayonet as the CETME).

Model: FR-8 (Fusil Refromando No. 8, or Modified “musket” number 8)
    Caliber: 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester)
    Weight: ~7.5 lbs
    Total overall length: 39 inches
Barrel length w/flash hider: 19 inches
Rifling: right hand, 4 groove, 1:12
    Magazine: 5 rounds
Rear sight: Adjustable for elevation peep dial
Front sight: Adjustable for elevation/windage eccentric post.

Very nice indeed. I may just have to add one to the collection.
