    Default First Handgun

I am looking to buy my first handgun, mainly for range shooting and home defence
I am thinking about the Ruger 9mm, either the P89 or P95. Any Suggestions?

both good guns - i've shot both and like them - ruger automatics are inexpensive and they operate like work horses - they'll eat anything and last forever. definitely good for a beginner gun being they have a safety - i wouldn't reccomend a glock until you are more experienced.........

I can agree with the glock not having a "safety" although i feel i must say that my first pistol was a glock 19, and ive carried that for years...but something with a better safety is more recommendable...

i hear ya - just wouldn't someone accidentally shooting themselves in the foot because of my reccomendation, lol. my buddy got a glock as his first pistol, but that was only after i instructed him on how to use mine........... if everyone kept their finger off the tringer until target was aqcuired, there'd be a hell of a lot less accidents........

Picked up my first handgun this year. CZ-75P-01. Was lucky enough to get to shoot it @ a local club. Was very impressed. Read up on it and how it is the NATO sidearm as well as the testing it had to go through.
