Could we see an annual registration?
So I was sitting writing checks the other day, wife’s driver’s license renewal, her ‘08 car registration, my ‘08 truck registration. All at once I was overwhelmed with “license this, license that, registrations at every turn, fishing license, hunting license, driver’s license, LTCF etc“.
I really had to think twice about posting this. I might draw some flak for this thought but here goes. Since we are all aware of the ongoing attacks of our rights by certain legislators in Harrisburg how possible is it that the idea of a “firearms registration” could be nearing? I don’t mean just a registry, how about an annual fee paid on the firearms you own. Since they are having trouble controlling our ownership why not tax them. It could be a flat fee per firearm, or, more in keeping with the government way of bureaucracy it could be graduated. As an example: x$’s per revolver, x$’s per pistol (depending on magazine capacity), x$’s per rifle, x$’s per shotgun. It could come in a form similar to the Personal Property Tax. Anything to add another “sin tax” and reap revenue from citizens wishing to engage in legal activity. We have heard before the idea of a right that becomes licensed is now a privilege. Would an annual registration make gun ownership a privilege?
Bring me back to reality, am I thinking too much about this?

Re: Could we see an annual registration?
IIRC that has already been proposed by a lawmaker from the Phila area, it may have been in the discussion phase but not proposed, I'm not recalling the specifics.

Re: Could we see an annual registration?
they tried this a year or so ago.
it caused a huge uproar...even among people who generally pay no attention to gun laws.
it was shot down in committee.
doesn't mean they won't try it again, though.

Re: Could we see an annual registration?
If people keep voting for liberal politicians this will not be the worst thing to happen to gun owners.
They are hellbent on turning all of us into criminals.
