    Default My air rifles

Here's a shot of my air rifles. I started shooting air rifles just for practice for the "real guns", but they've turned into an addiction in and of themselves. Three Air Arms PCP (precharged pneumatic) air rifles. Two .22 caliber and one .177 caliber. I have a 25 yard range set up in the backyard. These things can all put 10 shots in a group smaller than a dime. Fun stuff, and even though the guns are expensive, "ammo" is CHEAP!

ETA: I refinished the stock on the middle rifle myself.

I'd highly recommend an Air Arms. I would buy from Straight Shooters.

Well, not really unless a tiny battery driven air-pump counts...

I saw a few stogers at the local shop. Does any one have an opinion of them?

Did I hear somehwere guys are using pellet guns to go hog hunting? I imagine it would be a larger diameter then .177...like .25 or something? Nice guns though. Do they run off a compressed air cartridge like CO2 or do you pump them? Nice guns man...

They are filled using a scuba tank filled to 3,000psi. The rifles have air cylinders (the tube under the barrel). It takes about 10 seconds to fill the cylinder from the scuba tank, and you get about 50 shots per fill.

Wow, never would have guessed a scuba tank...What kind of fps are you talking with one of those...1000? I'da thought that compressed air would condense and get the gun wet?... Guess the air is dried for scuba though?

Yeah I use a carbon fiber scuba tank so there is no condensation, etc. The guns work like a charm. I chrono'ed all three but I don't have the numbers in front of me. The .177 is a bit faster than the .22's, obviously.
