Got a maple AK stock for my MAK-90, what type of finish?
I recently picked up a MAK-90 in banned configuration and am converting it back to how it should look. I purchased an Ironwood stock set in Maple (absolutely awesome looking stock set). I am wondering what the best finish to use would be?
I am looking to preserve the light blonde color of the maple but I also need good protection from grime/moisture/humidity, and most importantly, the finish will need to hold up to heat as AK handguards get HOT. I purchased some Fornby's Tung Oil finish from Lowe's today, and wanted to get some input on using it on Maple before I go to town on this expensive stock set and figure out if this is a good finish to use or if I should go a different route.
