Steel Silhouette Target Rack
Hey, I've been searching on-line for steel silhouette targets. I found a few mfg's but none of them has a rack of what I am imagining of building. I'm thinking of having 10 targets across and 4 rows, one above the other. A resetting arm that will reset all targets at once with a pull of a rope. The silhouette targets are the typical ram, pig, turkey and chicken. Each row would be of the same target.
I'm thinking on putting it at 75' for 22 shooting.
Has anyone seen something like this?

Re: Steel Silhouette Target Rack
Check out my post on resettable silhouette targets. These are for air guns, and small bore. But they worked pretty well based on my limited trial. Our club is looking to buy a whole set of these to run air gun matches on resettable targets.

Re: Steel Silhouette Target Rack
Actually, during my google search, your snowflake post came up and I checked out that fellas site.
As with glock19's post, we already have 2 plate racks of five targets that work in a similar fashion.
I was looking for a rack of 40 targets, 4 rows of 10, one above the other. I'm thinking of just duplicating the rack we have and add the rows above. But with 40 targets, I think it might be kinda heavy to reset. Might need some kind of counterweight system.

Re: Steel Silhouette Target Rack
have you checked with http://www.range-systems.com/
i by my paper targets from them since the prices are good, but they can do everything anyone would need, from paper targets, to building you a gun range. hell at one point they had a semi truck with a 3 lane range in the trailer.
seriously, everyone, check out their prices on standard targets. that reminds me, i need more B27pro targets.Last edited by rovert97; May 4th, 2009 at 09:34 AM.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Re: Steel Silhouette Target Rack
I have checked them out. They don't seem to have any plate racks.
Here are some of the places that have interesting steel targets:

This guy may become my fav. I ordered some stuff last week, contacted me within hours to give prices and asked if I would like the targets resized, which I did. I ordered some silhouettes and card suites-those at 1/5 of the provided size. From here.

Re: Steel Silhouette Target Rack
Yesterday I recieved my order of targets from quality targets. That was pretty fast. Got one rabbit, turtle, groundhog, dove and a duck. They're just A36 steel and need a bottom plate welded to the bottom before I can start shooting them with the 22. The sizes were my only disappointment. I believe they stated they were a little bigger than the ones I was sent, but are still a good size. I was showing them at last nights club meeting. Some guys thought they were too small to shoot at 75' with a pistol, others thought they were cool and the size was just right for them.
I'm still thinking on some kind of lever arm system to reset all the targets at once. I figure, if the plate falls onto a bar, located 1/3 from the top of the target, mounted to a lever on the side (about 2 feet long), and bolt to a vertical bar that attaches to each one (with one loose bolt, so it pivots) could be pulled upwards with another bar (like a tilted L) and it pivots at the intersection of the L. A cable or rope attaches to the top of the L and runs back to the shooting station, where a lever could be installed to ease in the pulling operation. If it's too heavy for "the general shooter" to pull, a system of pulleys along the rack could be added, to increase the mechanical advantage. Sound good?Last edited by roland; May 7th, 2009 at 01:38 PM. Reason: edit
