Default ATTN: 4x4 does not equal tank tracks

I wish some of these people would drive off a fucking cliff. These assholes think with AWD or 4WD that they can climb vertical walls and do 90mph in 7 inches of snow on rural roads.

I think the vehicles that I see stuck on the side of the road in the winter are most frequently trucks and SUVs. A lot of people seem to think that driving one makes them impervious to the road conditions, when it doesn't.

i'm right there with you 100%. 4x4 is useless unless your able to keep control of your vehicle and i'm sorry but speeding != keeping control of your vehicle. BTW i own a 4x4 nissan frontier and a suburban 2500 4x4.... I spent 4 hours last night assisting 2 friends who decided to go out in the snow and got stuck... and they had an AWD Subaru.... Go figure.

After further consideration, I've decided to re-open this thread.

The other one ended up being a long, drawn out, thread that had more to do with road rage than anything else.

    On topic:

MY 4x4 is currently more like a sled than a tank.
Tires that just passed inspection by a hair don't do me much good.

If there's snow on the road, I'll take the car instead. At least it has new tires that have a good snow rating.

I have a 4x4, but I run it in rear wheel drive until I absolutely need 4x4. (Haven't needed it yet) Kind of like the sword fighter engaging his opponent with his left hand even though he is right handed...

......and not all 4X4 owners drive like assholes!!! I'm a 4X4 owner, and Saturday, I had to drive to work and back in that blizzard (Spring City to Wayne and back), and I never once went over 30mph. Believe it or not, some of us actually know how to drive in bad weather.

The "Auto 4x4" feature is nice for those days where some spots are dry, but 200 feet down the road it's a mess... kicks in automatically, as needed.

If it's completely crappy, it just stays in 4 Hi.

I've only ever used 4 Low for pulling stumps.

Anyone still running trucks that require you to get out and turn the hubs?

thanks EM that other threrad went down hill in a hurry and no neg rep to make up for it ...

like i was stating in the other thread, you have to make adjustments for the weather and they are all different adjustments depending on what yoru driving... i dont go extremely fast in the snow with my 4x4 but also i refuse to sit behind someone that is going too slow.. i understand they are going at their pace and thats fine, however i do not have a 2 wd 2500 lb car that i have to go 20 mph, so dont get mad when i pass you, doing 35-40 mph lol

as with all things common sense..

People that are terrified to drive in snow should stay home. These are the people that go 20 mph and hit the brakes for no reason.
