McKean County non-resident friendly ccw renewal
Hi. New to the forum and hoping to get our PA non-res permits renewed and didn't realize it has to now be done in person. We originally got them by mail from Centre county.
We live in Rochester NY and Potter County would be closer [relatives and ATV park in Wellsville, NY area that we frequent].
If McKean is friendly what city would be the place to visit to have our permits renewed, so I can visit the website and find out all that's involved?
Thanks, Carol

Sheriff's office is in Smethport. western end of the city on Rt 6, in the county jail building. Don't know if he has ever issued a non-resident, I don't recall anyone mentioning it. We have the 'credit card' style machine, takes 10 minutes unless there is a line.
I got mine done by the sheriff himself, I think everyone else was out to lunch that day.Marty near God's Country. Making good people defenseless doesn’t make bad people harmless.

Thanks. I got in touch with the Sheriff's office in Smethport and it sounds like they do non-resident renewals and that is where we will be headed soon.

What's the fee for non resident? I have a couple of friends in NYS that want to get their permits.

I just quickly scanned through the statutes and I don't see anything stating extra charges for out-of-state applications.

Same as resident, great deal. I'm assuming it takes as long....10 min. Sure beats the hell out of NY.

Re: McKean County non-resident friendly ccw renewal
My in-laws live in Smethport and when visiting I have left my guns home because Ohio does not have a reciprocity agreement with PA. Just learned that non-resident permits are available. Will be applying for one on my next trip. I also didn't know that I could carry my gun in my car with my Ohio CHL in PA. When I took my CHL class in Ohio, the instructor said PA did not accept Ohio CHL, so I didn't look any further. Glad I stumbled on to your website, to get the right info.
