Man killed while beating would-be robber
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/loc...,5234060.story
Facing the barrel of a sawed-off shotgun on a dark West Baltimore street, Roland Scott fought back. He pulled out his own weapon - a fake handgun - and wrested the shotgun away from his attacker, city police said.
Scott ordered the man to strip naked in the middle of Laurens Street, took $800 from him and forced him to march into the laundry room of a nearby apartment building.
"He starts beating him, telling him to get more money, saying, 'Get me a cell phone or I'm going to kill you,'" said Sgt. Dennis M. Raftery Jr., a supervisor in the Police Department's homicide unit. "He is beating him with the butt of a sawed-off shotgun."
Raftery said the shotgun, then pointed at Scott, discharged, hitting Scott in the stomach and killing him. Authorities said his death will be ruled accidental."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)

Re: Man killed while beating would-be robber
hhmmmmm......
so the first thing he does is pull out a fake handgun, and after that he proceeds to shoot himself to death with the perp's shotgun??
I'm surprised he made it that far in life... usually, people like that eat too many marbles when they are children, and then go on to become a tragic tale on "Reader's Digest".==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791

Re: Man killed while beating would-be robber
Really strange. The intended victim then robs the guy that wanted to rob him. Then shoots himself in the stomach while beating the first guy with the shotgun.
And...a fake handgun? WOW...sounds like that guy had multiple problems.
Maybe it will scare straight the surviving robber...never know who you're coming up against when you try to rob somebody

Re: Man killed while beating would-be robber
I would never thought the government would let wall street rob billions of dollars for a tax-payer buy-out of the busted-out bear stearns.
After this, I believe this story.
