    Default Is it me or is there a HUGE amount of roadkill this year?

    Man I am seeing roadkill all over the place. Rt. 80 is littered with mutilated deer and other critters.

    Seems to be a hell of a lot more than normal, kind of curious if the populations are up or it's just a strange year.

    Wasn't it rut season not too long ago (and hunting season)? Deer are moving around more, and in more areas that they are not as familiar with would be my partial explanation... that, and there are always more cars to hit them.

    Maybe it's a sign that the population is coming back, after the the PGC massacre, in the past decade....

    I think I've seen more than usual, but not a big enough difference to be sure. Last autumn I certainly had to dodge way more animals while on the road.

    seems the same as always in this area...tons in the residential areas and all the hunters finding nothing...

    there's this one country club outside Pittsburgh with probably 2 dozen turkeys that live on the grounds destroying stuff...am wondering if they'd let me "help"

    and deer everywhere, but again....houses close by

    We were in Harrisburg yesterday for my granddaughter's baptism, and I must have seen about 15-18 deer splattered along the road from Hazleton...

    I just hope that there are that many out during gun season.. would be nice to get one... FINALLY after a 3 year hiatus without venison... I am going thru withdrawal...
