Exclamation Trip to Arkansas via Grey Hound - questions

I may be taking a trip to Arkansas in Later March to early April of next year with my girlfriend to visit her family.

We plan on going via Grey Hound bus. Is it possible for me to legally bring my gun (either on my person or locked away) on the bus? Is it against Grey Hound's policies. Do they screen baggage? Do they use metal detectors? I've never ridden on a bus across the country.

Also, I checked and it appears Arkansas is a reciprocal state. Is this current? Are there any differences between CC in PA and AR (bars or any other notable exceptions)?

Any personal experiences CCing in Arkansas?

Any and all information would be incredibly helpful! Thank you in advance!

Note that it is an offense to carry anywhere that has a sign prohibiting carry.

They screen some baggage and firearms are not allowed but it is only against greyhound policy and not a criminal offense .

I am going to montana soon and i am thinking about using greyhound but the firearms policy is stopping me .

I looked up greyhounds stuff after the posting. They do not allow carrying in the bus or checking firearms with luggage. Jerks.

I am not trying to get off the subject, but do you know how long the trip would take?

    Thank you for the link.

Am I to understand some of the finer points are no CCing within bars. Is OCing legal then or does that prohibit me from entering bars. I am not a bar person by the way, but I like to know beforehand what the law is.

That and no sporting events or church. Neither of which I am likely to go to...although does that include wedding ceremonies? I guess church is church.

It takes something like 19 hours to drive.
1 day 6 hours by bus according to Grey Hound's site.
and something like 6 hours if you fly.

I will be there for approximately 1 week if that matters.

I was just wondering how long it would take by bus. Nothing was meant by the question.

No harm...I was just trying to be thorough in case you were getting at something.

You will be subject to immigrations checks periodically once your in the southwest on Greyhound. They will board the bus, check IDs, search passengers, ask dumb questions, and have dogs sniff the luggage. If they find a gun what they do next will depend on a lot of factors, but could be anything from make you stow it in your under bus baggage to throw you off on the side of the road to have you arrested. A lot depends on the LEOs involved, and a lot depends on the bus driver involved. Don't risk it.

If we ever meet at an event, ask me (or my wife) how I know about guns and buses

Could you have an FFL here ship it to an FFL there for you to pick up once you arrive? I'm not really up on the laws regarding shipping firearms, but my uncle from Maine would sometimes ship guns to Texas when they came for a visit. He usually added a hunting excursion to any other trip they were taking.

If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

put your zip plus 4 in the box in the upper right hand corner.
