Default No wonder people aren't advertising in the PG

I was floored when I got the price for a want ad in the Post Gazette.
I haven't had to look for an employee for five years due to the fact I have almost no turn over. I have an employee that is going from five days to three days since she is going to start on early SSI. I have another that was going to school and working PT three days a week that just got hired for a job in her field. Poof, I need to cover five shifts.

The ad I always run normally runs about $100-$105.
Are you ready the Pittsburgh Post Gazette is charging me $213.

And these people wonder why their classified advertising has dumped into the toilet.

If I find an employee on the first run it will be worth it. But if I have to run additional ads it is going to get expensive.

So what does your buisness entail? What kind of employee are you looking for?

Depending on what you need, there's probably somebody on here who can fill that need for a lot less (hell, if it works out i'd say donate the cost of the ad to the forums upkeep)

That aside, I say screw the PG and let it die, and for that matter the BC/AC Times as well...I just wish the Trib had a branch that came this far up (wanna guess which paper is my homepage on the browser? lol)

I'm still looking for full-time employment.

Like most of the other people who replied here, I'm not averse to changing my current work situation. I wouldn't mind changing fields or staying in my current one, I'm very open...

    So...what are you hiring for?

If you post on line, make sure that you do the five following things:

    1. Tell what you need in the position clearly. Do not leave out anything.
    2. Tell what you do not want or need.
    3. If it needs to be local, say local candidates only.
    4. Assume that the person reading the thing knows nothing about the job otherthan what is indicated.
    5. Be prepared for a lot of applications, many of which will be way off the mark.

I am looking, and I have been doing this for years. If you follow the above, you will get what you want with a minimum of problems.

If/when the position is filled, let the people who applied know.

If anybody calls you about it, have somebody get back to them and set their expectations on when things are to happen.

Lets see are you a girl?
A guy could do the job
and I do have one "straight guy" working for me.

Can you put up with 12 whiny bitches who complain all day long about money and the loser men in their lives. OK 9 out of 12 complain about the loser men in their lives.

Last time I went on Vacation to Fl. my one guy said to me,
Al don't you ever leave me alone with them again.

The job is for a Hair stylist. And you have to have at least 5 years of expeirence before I'll even consider you. I have three hairsylists that come from a local Supercuts to get their hair done in my salon. They said they come here because my sylists are "real" Hairsylists. They will not even let the other stylists they work with cut their hair.

I don't do hair, never have and never want to, it is a business that makes me good money.

I've been here over 20 years. My average employee has been with me
12.5 years. Four have been with me 22, 21, 18, 17, years. My lowest timer has five years in with me.

In this business that is unheard of.

My baby sitting job is hard enough just putting up with them.

Thank God my head manager is "normal" or I don't know what I would do if I had to deal with them by myself.
