IR target designators
The laser sights that are only visible with night vision.
Most of the American manufacturers say they will sell only to military or law enforcement, but Kalinka optics was selling them a few months ago (though I don't see them advertised on the site now). What's the deal? Is this a legal thing or some kind of handshake deal with the Feds to self-regulate?"When law becomes despotic, morals are relaxed, and vice versa."-- Honore de Balzac, The Wild Ass's Skin...huh, huh..Balzac...Wild Ass...huh, huh

Re: IR target designators
1. Make sure you have a way to mount the IR securely to hold a zero.
2. Spend the money on Gen 3+ NVG that don't need an illuminator. When you have nvgs on and see someone with older nvgs on or newer NVGs with the active IR turned on, it is like watching someone with a floodlight on their head. You want something akin to the 7D or later if you can afford it. 14s are even better.
3. Get a PASGT or an ACH/mich with mount. Using a head harness is crap.

Those are the two models I've used on an M4. And remember, if the BG has NVGs, IR designators, like tracers, work both ways!Last edited by panther76; September 1st, 2009 at 08:49 PM.
