Very nice, looks great and have heard Ruger makes a great revolver. Post up a range report when you get a chance.

Great looking gun, that is probably going to be my next purchase for cc. I have wanted one for a while now.

    Followup range report.

This past saturday, I took the ruger along with some others to the range. We shot a box of .357 and a box or .38 special through it.

There was a notable difference between the .357 and the .38, but with the Hogue rubber on it, the recoil was dampened nicely, making follow up shots easier to keep on target. I am not bothered by recoil at all, but as for control, it was a great help.

The .38 special was a dream to shoot.

I am not used to writing range reports, if there is anything you want to know that I did not mention, just ask..

As for cleaning the gun afterwards, a quick stop at the local gunshop to pick up a stainless steel brush and some lead away cloths, I got my friend Kieth to show me the field stripping process for the ruger and I will be cleaning it more thoroughly this weekend. The initial cleaning after the range trip left some carbon baked onto the cylinder and breech face. The lead away works wonders, with just a little taking the carbon right off and leaving the steel looking pristine as if it was unfired.

A nice plus to the Ruger SP101 is that its one of the only revolvers designed to be field stripped.

nice looking Ruger and had my eye on one about a year ago. Still thinking about picking one up myself, especially after seeing your photo.
