Updated Directive 137 - one page, take this with you to Philly
Attached to this post is a copy of the entire update to Directive 137 regarding the open carry of firearms in Philadelphia. It has come to my attention that this directive is being ignored by the officers of the Philadelphia Police Department, and it makes logical sense to me to keep a copy of it with you if you spend any time openly carrying your firearm in the city.
Please note that I am not suggesting this will save you from harassment, and I am not a lawyer. I simply believe that this might be something good to have in case an officer tries to ignore the law and pressures you with threats of incarceration. It may be ignored, and it might help you out. Take it if you want. I'll be keeping copies on me when I OC in the city.Junior

I'm not entirely sure these directives do much of anything. clearly they're not getting the message with the previous directive that was sent out and I'm willing to bet this will be more of a waste of paper & ink than achieving a goal.
how about they start reading the fucking PA constitution they swore an oath to uphold?Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty

I do not disagree with the sentiment. However, against a government where the seeds of tyranny have already been sown, we need all the help and resources we can get.

I am also going to send a letter (in triplicate...) to the Commissioner's office requesting they change the directive to remove "concealed carry permit" or whatever the fuck is in there and make it say "License to Carry Firearms"...since there's no such thing as a concealed carry permit...

I have to agree with Zack on this one.
Officer safety is a bullet proof vest, and training as far as I am concerned. And, before anyone cracks on me for not liking cops, my brother is a LEO.
I think there are some defenite changes to be made to that. However, it is a step in the right direction.
Thank you for once again posting it, with a clear title to what it is about. It may help those in the future.I'm so fast, I can bump fire a bolt action.

Agreed. But since it is clear that the average Philly cop is not a Rhodes Scholar, if they stop calling it a license to carry concealed, maybe they won't get stuck on the word 'concealed' and recognize that it is a license to carry a firearm, which allows one to carry it in a vehicle or in a city of the first class.
And it doesn' require concealment.
