Re: S&w Sigma
i've had one, the 9VE, for over 2 years. it's been problem free until recently; the last time i went shooting, the mags kept dropping out, and it jammed every 6 or so rounds. the upside is, S&W has great customer service; i expect mine back any day now. up until its recent problems, it's been failure free, and accurate. most complaints are about the trigger, but if you've shot DA revolvers, it's no different, and lightens up after 100 or so rounds. it's a good gun for the money.

Re: S&w Sigma
i have had .40ve compact since 1997, excellent gun, not a single failure, accurate too, tough as nails, excellent sights, more comfortable than my glocks.
the mag release spring could be a bit stiffer, lefties as myself can accidentally drop the mag.
the price is great too, its smith and wesson;s best selling gun.

Re: S&w Sigma
I just recently purchased a SW 40, I like it. But this is my first handgun. I will say that I have put about 400 rounds in it and no jams. It was a good price, so it was more of a value gun to get my hands wet. Obviously not going to be the best out there, but look at the price. I enjoy mine for what it is worth.

Re: S&w Sigma
Trigger sucks, but it performs great for its price tag.
I've seen 10+ of them have double feeding issues, which I don't much understand why. It's essentially a rip off of the Glock, but I've never seen double feeds like this from Glocks.
A beginner will have difficulty shooting it accurately due to the trigger weight. An expert will tell you to save a couple more bucks and get an M&P or a used Glock even.
They're very tough to beat for the $, though.

Re: S&w Sigma
I have a Sigma 9ve, and really enjoy it.
For the price tag, I think it is hard to beat.
The trigger is rough at the start, but after double action revolvers, it was nothing new to me. It does get easier after you run a couple hundred rounds through it, and the more you shoot it, the more comfortable it gets.
I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a nice budget semi-auto.

I was also considering a Sigma, Along with a taurus and a couple other inexpensive guns. The advise I got was the same from almost everyone. Spend a hundred dollars more for a better gun or buy used.
I took thier advice and bought a used XD and am very glad I listened.

Re: S&w Sigma
I seen this thread and thought everyone was going to say use the search feature. But I guess not. I have a 40ve and shoot it every week. About 50 rounds each trip for about 2 months now. No problems at all. Accurate, cheap, reliable; what else do you need. Oh and I carry it daily with one in the pipe. With that trigger pull not much chance of accidental discharge.

Re: S&w Sigma
Travoose dont forget the manual of arms for a sigma is the same as a Glock , treat it the same, the safety is in the trigger so if you carry it fully loaded carry it in a holster that cover the trigger, and if you want make the trigger sweeter than a Glock www.gunsprings.com wollf sells a spring kit that will make your Sigma feels more like a 1911. Superior Grip angle and sights than a Glock.
Its one of the FBI;s authorized Handguns for its agents, so it cant be bad, and yeah it has a fully supported chamber in .40 cal so it wont Blow up, unlike the next popular Brand.
