    Default Hello, moving to PA.

    Hello,

I am currently living Florida but am looking to move to PA in the near future. I found this forum in my searches dealing with firearms and firearm laws for PA. I am looking to learn more about firearm laws, what I can and cant bring with me, and mag capacity limits. Specifically AR/AK style rifles and mags over 10 rounds. From what I have been able to find it seems that all of those will be ok to bring with me.

When I come up I will be traveling through MD so any suggestions as far as transporting them through there would be helpful.

    Thanks for your help.

There's a lovely 'search' box top and center of every forum page. Use it well. Your questions have been answered many times already.

I can't imagine that Pa's laws are much different than FLA laws. We are a gun loving state. No limit on mag capacities or anything like that. If it isn't banned by Federal law than it isn't banned in Pa. Just don't keep your guns loaded in your vehicle here and you should be fine. MD sucks though. I don't know how to help you there except suggest avoiding the whole state and come through West Va instead. Stay out of Philly as well.

Bring it all, don't stop in MD, ammo and unloaded firearms separated, and welcome to the forum!

Magazines can't be loaded in a vehicle either even if they are separated from firearm.

To mirror what everyone else said stay out of MD if you can at all help it they are nazi's there and even though you are legally covered by the federal statues MD (much like NY) seems to think they trump federal law listed below regarding the transport of firearms.

    18 U.S. Code § 926A - Interstate transportation of firearms

    Current through Pub. L. 114-38.
    US Code
    Notes
    Authorities (CFR)

Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
    (Added Pub. L. 99–360, § 1(a), July 8, 1986, 100 Stat. 766.)

I know the game commission considers a gun loaded if a detached magazine is loaded. Maybe I got my gun laws mixed up.
