    Default Selling gun at Grice's

I am thinking about selling a gun (S&W 629) at Grice's. Do they give fair prices?

No dealer will give you a fair price. They generally do 40-50% of value. Try post it on here or gun broker for a closer to value sale.

    Hell no.

Post it here, if your asking price is decent it'll be gone quickly.
A nice 629 is an easy sell.

    Yepper!!

You'll do much better selling it in the classifieds here, then any shop. Check completed sales for similar models on gun broker. Take those as your top mark. Price it right to start and it'll sell fast.

Most dealers will not give you what most consider a fair price.
There is a small dealer local to me that will pay very fair prices for guns he knows are not going to sit for a year and a half.

If the dealer gives you a fair price because it moves fast then I'll sell it myself for an even better price that still sells it fast. Any dealer has to make money , that is the nature of the business.

This is the way to go. A nice 629 at a good price in good or better condition is very desirable.

Not everyone wishes to deal with multiple crawfish before finding an actual buyer.

A couple weeks ago I listed one of my FALOs here for sale.
Figuring out a reasonable price is difficult due to them not coming up for sale often.
The blue book gave a value and I found two others for sale.
I priced mine below the other two for sale and well below the book value.

The first guy said he'd take it at full price, the next day he crawfished.

Second guy wanted it at $4300 and I drove an hour to meet him, waited an hour and a half, and he never showed.
Next guy said he'd take it at $3800.
Then he starts giving orders to me about how I have to drive four hours to Harrisburg to meet him which I refused to due considering I already gave him a $500 discount.
So he says I'm unreasonable for not wanting to take the chance of getting stood up after a four hour drive.
He then offers to make the drive to me but he'll only give me $3500.
So in his mind, my time was worth a $500 discount to him but his time was worth $800...

So, if I could have sold it locally to a dealer for $3000 i would have.
But, I wasn't in a hurry and don't mind shipping so today it ended on gunbroker for $3625.
After fees I'm still ahead of the last crawfishes offer.

    A new 629 is about $750-800.
If a dealer would offer him $500 quick cash because he is looking to buy something fast, I consider that fair if the dealer is going to put it in the case for $600.
That all said, most dealer would offer $300-350 IMO.

Both of them didn't ask their mommies first.
