    Default Crazy Brits.

    Try watching this without smiling!

The commercial opens with an overview shot of what looks like a normal day at Liverpool Street station in London. ?Within a few seconds, however, music is blaring and the travelers are breaking into dance. ?As the ad progresses, more people start dancing, the music changing rapidly, as confused and bemused bystanders look on.

At the finale, 350 professional dancers fill the station, dancing wildly and even drawing some of the bystanders in as the company captures the scene on hidden cameras. The full-length version of the commercial aired in the U.K.? How I wish that I had been there.

It has been done here in the US. They got the idea from a fad called "Flash Mob". What it is you join a web site and the group that runs it plans an event. Then emails everyone on the list to the time and general location as well as what you are to do at the event. Then about 15 mins before the event with the exact time and location and last min instructions. At the time of the event people just mill around pretending to not know each other then someone does something to cue the rest and they all do whatever the event planed to do.

I have been to three of them. Once at a mall about 100 of us met at a mall and right at noon someone blew a whistle and we all started to sing the same song. They we all scattered. Most of us did not know anyone else there and we made no attempt to meet any of the others.

The other times were at the garden center of Lowes, (all sorts of animal sounds making you think you were in the jungle, more than 100) And a giant group hug (more than 100) at a strip mall in the rain.

At all events the rules are you must pretend you are there for other reasons until the event happens. Not try to find others. And scatter afterwards without trying to meet or talk to the others there.

All events must be silly and not make sense.

This is what I suspect might have inspired it:

Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"
Archie Bunker: "would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"
