Re: question about taurus
Model 85, I have one in blue since 1989 no problems. I tend to shoot standrad velocity loads in any J frame size gun and stay away +Ps.

Re: question about taurus
I am in the market for a revolver. I have heard Taurus has a problem with dual action and the ones I have looked at had a real problem with the trigger pull. The single action was great.
I have never owned a revolver therefor I don't know much about them.
Is that something that can be fixed?
Is it really common with just Taurus?

Re: question about taurus
Sounds like a Taurus 85. I've owned 5 or so over the last 20 years. I still own two.
Nice revolver and one of the best values in a self defense handgun.
As far as Jim1911's comment:

I do suggest putting about 200 rounds through any handgun before carrying it for self defense.

Re: question about taurus
Double acttion revolvers have a heavier trigger in DA than do most auto pistols. This is a safety feature, and kind of comes with the mechanics of a revolver - your muscle power torns and moves a lot of stuff in order to set up the next shot, and cock the trigger and fire the piece.
As stated, they will smooth up with use, and you will get better at shooting it.

As dogngun said it will smooth up. One of the reasons I bought the Model 85 when I did was because I was impressed with the trigger compared to S&W J frames at the time. The sights were also better, bigger than old S&W J frames, smaller than the newer ones. I had been carrying S&Ws for about 15 years at the time so I was well acquainted with them.

Re: question about taurus
I've had my 85ULSS for a few years now and have been very happy with it. I don't shoot +p loads in it, but I carry it loaded with +p Gold Dots.
+p loads are not a pleasure at the range, but they are exactly what you want if you need to defend yourself.
