Default Shotguns suck for home defense

Well, I personally don't they really suck, but an AR is a far superior choice.

Pretty good video dealing with why the AR is the better option.

Here's why I think shotguns are best used for killing birds, low capacity, limited range and the recoil sucks. I have 3 shotguns and they hardly ever get use, IMO they are the worst for defense use.

I wonder if he was on the receiving end of a shotgun blast of 00 buck without body armor if he still would think shotguns suck? Oh and we all run around with 10" barreled suppressed ARs.

I don't want to be hit with an acorn slung from a sling shot, either. That doesn't mean it's a superior choice for home defense.

For me, what it boils down to is that there are no real disadvantages to using an AR for home defense. There are several when using a shotgun. 10 inch to 16 in, the AR is a better option.

    Ummm, OK then.

You would fumble around for shotgun shells but would always get that extra AR magazine in your pocket oriented 100% correctly the very first time under stress...

I use frangible ammo in my shotgun as I really don't like the thought of blasting 22 caliber holes through my interior walls.

But hey, if I was an operator with a 10" suppressed AR, I would surely think differently.

Yes, I can load a 30 round magazine into an AR, thus taking it back to full capacity, faster than I can thumb shells into a shotgun. I would bet that holds true for most creatures possessed of opposable thumbs.

Exactly how many times has someone fired more than 30 rounds during a home defense situation?
