Once again a death from; "It wasn't loaded".
Manslaughter alleged in woman’s shooting

A Connellsville man will face an involuntary manslaughter charge after the death of a Connellsville woman early Sunday morning in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, PA according to state police.
Kylie Marie Sage, 23, was found in the driver's seat of a truck parked along North Bell View Road around 2:30 a.m., state police said in a news release. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 6 a.m., police said.
Sage had told Jeremy Paul Hamborsky, 24, earlier in the day about buying a gun on Saturday, police said. While sitting in the truck together, police said, Sage handed the new gun to Hamborsky, who removed it from its holster and asked if it was loaded. She said it was not loaded, according to state police.
Hamborsky “then worked the action of the firearm by holding it in his right hand and racking the slide back with his left hand,” police said in a news release. When the slide returned, the gun discharged one round, striking Sage underneath her right armpit and through her body, ultimately causing her death, the news release stated.
Hamborsky was arraigned by District Judge Randy Abraham, and bond was set at $50,000. An official at Fayette County Jail said Sunday night that Hamborsky paid bond.
Hamborsky faces a preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Ronald J. Haggerty Jr. on Thursday.

Re: Once again a death from; "It wasn't loaded".
There was a story on the news late last week of a husband who was handling a gun and shot himself in the hand. The bullet passed through the hand and entered his wife's head, who later died.
The story did not say if he thought the gun was unloaded.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

I wonder if Hamborsky was able to pass a PICS check.

Re: Once again a death from; "It wasn't loaded".
i was at a party sat. night some saw my pistol. they asked me about it. then some wanted me to get it out and show it. i said it would come out if i needed it or if i was going to throw it in the pond. anything else with so many people around was too great of a risk for problems.

Re: Once again a death from; "It wasn't loaded".
Hmmm...
If the guy racked the slide, that means a bullet in the chamber would have been ejected. Therefore, for the gun to have gone off, there must have been more in the magazine (which obviously must not have been removed).
I have another theory...Only the living tell their side of the story. The bullet entered through the armpit with not going through the shoulder. Arm(s) up in a defensive posture, perhaps? I'm no Columbo, but something smells fishy about this guys story.
