Helping Junior buy a gun
Mrs.K and I have 3 male offspring between us, ages 24, 23, and 22. Junior.K #1 and #3 (both hers) are both interested in purchasing their first personal firearms (1911s for both of them ). Neither one is currently able to afford the purchase outright. I have a couple of zero-balance credit cards available, and they can pay me in installments. If we go into a shop and choose a gun, can they fill out the 4473 while I pay the actual charges? The gun is meant to be theirs, I am just providing a financing service. They are not strictly *my* children (their father lives in MD), though I've been with them half their lives.

Re: Helping Junior buy a gun
I don't see anything wrong with that. Don't think the store cares who pays the bill. I have gone with my father and he used his card for a gun purchase when my card was not working.

An over-zealous FFL may view it as a strawpurchase and refuse the sale. But what you're doing is perfectly legal.

Re: Helping Junior buy a gun
FFL's are extremely afraid of straw purchases, and losing their licenses or worse. I doubt they would do that. I would call first and ask.
Why not get a cash advance on the card, and have your sons pay with cash. Then the can pay you back. Or better yet, maybe then can get their own card, and pay it that way.

Call your lgs, and ask the mgr, telling him you are helping the kids financially only. They either go along or not, The boys have to pass the PICS, not you. See what they say.
Have You done business there before?

Re: Helping Junior buy a gun
This is perfectly legal and any gun store with knowledgeable staff will be okay with this. You are simply loaning money to your sons for them to purchase a firearm.
