God forbid you even make a joke about a bomb on a plane any more, this poor slob ended up in solitary confinement for 2 days for asking a stewardess "Are you the one who checks for shoe bombs?" after she asked him to shut off his laptop.

Stupid is as stupid does (or whatever that sayin is)

One you shouldnt be stupid or drunk enough to say something so stupid especially when there are signs warning of it being a "crime"



That said I think his punishment far exceeded anything justifible considering that it was not a "threat" at all if that was the actual dialog.

You can't fix it, but you also don't need to over react to it either. This guy is going to get crucified for a stupid comment, but how many violent offenders are getting out of prison for work release or with reduced sentences. FFS.

Unless he said "Hey I a have a bomb in my shoe do you want it?" I can't see any reason he gets smacked with a felony.

More then 12 years ago or more a friend from Stroudsburg joked about the metal detector and not finding guns and got grabbed by security at Philly Airport. He was detained, missed his flight and honeymoon and was told he couldn`t ever use that airport. Never got a refund or anything.

Back in 1969 my new wife and I went to Mexico . I tried to tell her the do,s and don,ts but her being 18 years old it didn,t all register . Anyway , driving back across the border from Via Accuna we were asked at customs what our citizenship was . Before I could think she came out with " do I look Chianese ?" the next two hours Border Patrol tore our car completely apart . Lesson learned , which I never let her forget , know when to be a smart ass and when to be polite !

The Canadian border agents didn't think it was too funny when they asked me if I had any firearms in the vehicle, and I proceeded to count on my fingers and answer, "Nah, left all of them at home."

But a few more questions after that, they let me through.
