Thats funny. What are they considering an assault rifle?
Probably almost anything out there, I'd like some clarification.

In reality, there are about a dozen law enforcement officers killed each year by AK47 and AR15 style rifles. Not 1 in 5.

ETA: "Assault Rifles", or any rifle or shotgun in general, isn't a practical weapon for criminals. They MIGHT have them at home, or hidden somewhere, but they don't carry them on their person. They're too big to hide, and sometimes even too complicated for them to use.

Designed for spray fire from the hip in trench warfare, no less. This is so stupid it boggles the mind. People standing in trenches are usually concealed up to their shoulders. At the very least, they are concealed to the point where shooting anything from the hip would be impossible. Secondly, for all intents and purposes, trench warfare ended with the Armistice that ended WW I. Assault weapons as defined did not come into their own in warfare until WW II. Antiquated trench style defenses like the Maginot Line fell immediately due to the new fluid style of warfare called Blitzkrieg, never to be seen again.

But why let a little thing like history get in the way of histrionics?

That one honestly boggles my mind. Wow. I mean, the Thompson was developed just AFTER World War I. It wasn't used in WWI. Maybe if you consider the Vickers and MG 08 somehow the predecessors to AR and AKs but that's quite a stretch.

assault rifle bullets are much safer in a hunting rifle, they don't pierce armor or go through doors like they would if used in an assault rifle.

We need to use the same logic and mono tone speaking that she/they/antigunners try to use to educate the masses except in a pro gun way. Dear God,chart,finger pointing,skrool teacher type person,if she speaks it,it must be true. Using rational thought cannot over come that drivel.
