Re: House generator advise
In 2014, just after we bought the last house, I had a GE 20kW class genset installed.
It was a whole house generator. The gen cost 5000 bucks but the installation was another 12,000, including for Baltimore Gas and Electric to upgrade the 3/8 gas line to 3/4 to supply the 35 HP engine feeding the thing. (Natural Gas fueled.)
All the lines to and from the house were buried 20 inches down; no hung lines for power, control or NG supply. The generator sat on a rebarred concrete pad in the back yard.
It was great to have a/c even when the juice went out. And the furnace in the winter…
Money well spent, brothers and sisters!
I am NOT going to be “the next generation to not have it better than their fathers…”
When we buy are next (last) house here in PA that will be a priority.
Gimme dat air conditioning!

Re: House generator advise
Be advised that some are loud. Mines in a detached garage 35' from the house and I can hear it and I'm half deaf.
