I carry my 1911 more than any other pistol. Custom gets my vote.

It matters more about how much you practice. I actually have two A1 Springfields. The one I carry I use less for target practice fun, the other I*ve put 15k rounds through and counting. Keep ur main carry well maintained.

Was toying selling this because DW Optic plates were impossible to get and was going to send another 1911 off to get it optics cut - soooo glad it didn't sell and the optics plates became available- the Holosun SCS 320 works fantastic and looks classy too. Going to carry this a lot.

I picked up one of these Tisas in 9mm a few months back, and I am really happy with it. It is relatively light, and easy to carry. I haves had other bobtails, And didn*t care for how they handled. But this one feels like any other 1911. There was a very similar Wilson Combat 1911 (outwardly almost identical save for the two tone!), at my shop when I picked it up, The guys at the shop where kinda amazed how well they compared. Now I am NOT saying this is Apples to Apples. But for a fifth the price, I feel I got my moneys worth. (But one day I will have a real Wilson!). I am going to do an action job and slick it out a bit, and maybe add some night sights, just because I can. FYI the included mags feel kinda cheesy, (but run fine!) so I replaced with Wilson combat 47b*s, just for peice of mind!

I love 1911*s! It*s one of the firearms I believe every enthusiast MUST own! The only 1911*s I do & will continue to own are those I build myself. But that*s me. For those looking, it doesn*t matter. Choose your favorite within your price range & buy accordingly. That all said, its NOT my carry gun of choice. Though I have carried my 1911*s at times in the past. To begin with, it*s round count for the pistol size is abysmal. There has been some decent information stated here. With 1911*s more expensive does not mean more reliable. In some cases it means less reliable. And yes, the tighter the pistol, the more prone to MALFS it will be. But the fact remains it*s a 1911. Itsgoing to malfunction at some point. Weather user induced from limp wristing, pistol running too dry of lubrication, magazine or ammunition problem, there will be malfunctions at times. No, I do not believe those who say they*ve fired thousands of rounds without any malfunction, yadda, yadda. That*s just disingenuous. But so what. All firearms malfunction for some reason or another at some point. Even Glocks! LOL! As I*ve said before though, a malfunction is not always the fault of the firearm. Learning to read different types of malfunction will help discern the issue. And then steps can be taken to limit the probability in of a malfunction. We must remember it*s a tool with many intricate moving parts. It*s a machine & machines fail.

Another solid carry 1911 is SA 1911 Mil-Spec. Forged frame and slide and your basic 1911. I have a SA GI model they sold for some time back in the early 2000's and it's an Imbel Brazilian frame assembled in USA. The difference between the GI and the Mil Spec then and now is the lowered ejection port, visible sights and grip panels. There might be a few other minor differences but the Mil Spec is a solid bare bones pistol.

GI Model discontinued in 2011.

There are 743 jillion aftermarket parts for 1911s, so you can play with it as much as you like.

Extended slide release, extended safety, beaver tail to protect my dainty hands, and grips I like means that I don't have to change my grip while shooting.
