Re: J. C. Garand Match/Battle of the Bulge Shoot
You're right...weather won't stop the match....if you can get to the firing line. Unfortunately the Pine Grove area had around 24" of snow on the weekend of the 23rd. The match was more likely cancelled due to economics reasons. The club would have to hire a contractor to plow the road and parking area. The firing line area, pits and a path to the pits would have to be clear by volunteers. The money spent on the contractor for one match would be better spent on improvements at the Mollystown range.

Re: J. C. Garand Match/Battle of the Bulge Shoot
Hope its only that its the amount of snow. With the drifts since that storm probably 6' of snow in them. Last few xtc matches this past year were finding the carriers were getting shot up by someone standing up on the pit berm and firing down on them. Art fixed enough of them to run the matches, but they're probably almost as old as he is.

Re: J. C. Garand Match/Battle of the Bulge Shoot
We will be having another J.C. Garand Match on April 30th 2017. It is the same 55 round course B match, however this one is CMP sanctioned. With this, there will be an optional clinic the morning of the match taught by a CMP master instructor, and award pins will be presented.
The clinic will cover:
The history and current programs of the DCM and CMP
Basic firearms safety
Operation and zeroing of the M1 Garand, M1903 Springfield, AR15, and common Vintage military rifles
Introduction to marksmanship competitions
Standing, Kneeling, Sitting, and Prone shooting positions
Use of a sling while shooting
The clinic will be in the club's clubhouse in town (2 Leonard St, Pine Grove, PA 17963, 40.548155, -76.385927), sign up begins at 8am. The clinic starts at 9am. The match will be held at the Berger Rd range (109 Berger Rd, 40.560805, -76.365671), sign up begins at noon, and the match begins at 1pm.
The cost of the clinic plus the match is $20 total, the afternoon match alone is $15. Club M1 rifles are available as loaners for this match, if you need one please contact us prior to the match. Only club ammo may be used in loaner rifles, it will be available at the price the club paid for it at the match.
The match is registered as a Garand, Springfield, Military rifle match with the CMP, it is not limited to only WWII era rifles. Any as issued configuration military or commercial copy vintage or modern military rifle may be used. This includes M1a's, Sks', most ar15's, etc.
Additional information may be found in the thread for this event under the Training Courses sub forum, or at www.tulprpc.org .
