Re: Get back home bag
I bought my first item for my get home bag the other day.
Was surprised to see that Walmart carries these. $5.24 - I can afford that!

Re: Get back home bag
I've been picking up small items as I have some cash in my pocket.
Wind proof matches, emergency blanket, cheap headlamp... the usual stuff.
Then while watching a video, I saw a guy mention a small pry bar, and I thought that made some sense, so I started looking for something not too pricey.
I found this Crescent molding remover/pry bar on sale on Amazon for $9.50 and ordered it. I had looked at cheaper ones, but they all had lousy reviews.
Home Depot had it for the same price, but it can no longer be ordered - you'd have to check your local store to see if it's available.
Walmart has one (their brand) for about $5.00 and I may have grabbed it if I had seen it first, but the overall quality/finish is poor in comparison to the Crescent bar.
It's small and light enough that adding it to a pack shouldn't get in the way. Larger bars would provide more leverage for prying, but I can still think of many other uses for it. Makes for a nice little hammer for one thing.
It will slip right through a MOLLE attachment loop on my backpack, so I can carry it without taking up any space inside the pack.

That will also work fine for breaking winders.

I grabbed this image the other day for another forum. We keep these in our cars j.i.c. here in SEPA. This could mean the difference between a cold, snowy, miserable night stuck in a ditch and possible hypothermia. Check your fav big box online retailer for options.

Re: Get back home bag
I have a good bit of stuff accumulated now for my get home bag.
The most recent item was this Stanley Adventure Camping Cookware set.
It's $14.97 on the shelf at Walmart. I was going to pick it up when I use my holiday bonus associate discount, but then I noticed it was $11.70 on Walmart.com.

I added a bag of dog food to my order to get over $35 for free shipping and got me a nice cooking cup for a great deal.
These seem to be well regarded by people who do outdoors stuff, so I figured I'd get one.
$10.10 on Amazon right now!
