Re: LTCF one reference only needed people are helping
LTCF through Centre County. My references were from out of state.
Been in PA just over 4 years now. While I do "know people" here - no one I know personally knows that I have guns, let alone carry them around with me. I also prefer to keep it that way, for a variety of reasons. Additionally, I should not have to disclose it to any of them to secure an LTCF.
I will have to renew through Allegheny County. Their site says references are not required for renewal. I'm hoping that since the one I have NOW isn't through them, they will not treat my renewal as an initial application and require the references - but if they do - I will use out of state ones.

Re: LTCF one reference only needed people are helping
Okay, yeah. There's some dubiousness about "outsiders" here in certain parts of PA.
But in 5 years you can't find 2 folks to vouch in the unlikely event they're called?
I totally agree the whole thing is BS and shouldn't be on there... I completely support the lack-of-basis for the question being asked.
But in 5 years ...? I'm not 'from 'round these parts' myself, yet I could easily turn up 2 folks I've met in the last 6 months whom I could ask to serve as references for an LTCF... And I'm obnoxious and disliked, generally.DGAF

Re: LTCF one reference only needed people are helping
Exactly.
I find it amusing that Philadelphia County of all places no longer requires references as the requirement was ruled in a class-action suit to directly violate the confidentiality that the state guarantees the applicant during the application process.
Nice to know there are some good things about living in Philly.
