Re: Shipping Answers (to questions that are often asked)
Do I need to go to a UPS or FedEx store to ship a handgun or can I just have them come and pick it up at my house?

Re: Shipping Answers (to questions that are often asked)
In this case it is best to physically take it to a Hub to do the shipping, although I have received guns from people that did ship from their home. My concern would be if it were lost, and you didn't do it their way, they could possibly deny any claims.
There is a thread in Ammo and Reloading concerning this subject. UPS "Stores" are more like a franchise and they can set their own rules.Last edited by Xringshooter; December 21st, 2010 at 03:24 PM.

Re: Shipping Answers (to questions that are often asked)
You'll want to look at the customer centers. Even the UPS Stores that have the big UPS logo on the front of the store are typically owned/operated by non-UPS personnel. I've not found one yet that would ship gun stuff if you tell them that is what is in the package. Many won't even do 3rd party billing (our company has a UPS account, and when I have to ship something back to the main plant they won't do it using our account number. I actually have to pay for it and then put it on my expense account.)
Now this doesn't mean that some of them won't ship gun stuff for you, but I haven't found one yet. For me, the hub and customer service center are at the same place about a mile from my home so it's easy for me.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Shipping Answers (to questions that are often asked)
Went to UPS and they said they aren't accepting any packages for shipment today. Went to Fedex and they took it. Cost me $101.69 to ship it with $1500 insurance.
Without insurance it was $86 and some change. Is that normal? I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be cheap to ship, but that's about twice what I expected. Seems excessively expensive.
