They came, took a look around, saw that nothing was amiss, and left. I was surprised that they were called---I've OC'd in that Barnes and Noble many times and I've never had an issue.

    Yes. My point was that very likely he had no obligation to do so. I was indulging in a hypothetical, sorry for not being clear about that.
