I drive by the ship often. I remember when they lit it up and sounded the horns many years ago. I think it was during one of the fundraisers.

It is iconic and historic and would have been nice to somehow display it somewhere, possible for a fee.

But it has sat for decades and nothing tried has taken off in the least bit.

You can’t just sit on something hoping for a better day.

It is unfortunate, but it will likely be scrapped after all of this.

Should have been gone years ago. Not only is it a huge eyesore but it's taking up a berth that could be used to offload other ships and make the people/city/port owners money

I don*t think it is an eyesore and there are plenty of other docks available. They never would have let this ship take up a revenue spot for this long.

But I agree this has gone on long enough with no end in sight and tough decisions will have to be made.

Use eminent domain to seize (and purchase) a dock; turn it into basic living spaces for illegals & junkies & loonies. Better than living on the streets. Probably cheaper for the city, too, even factoring in power & sewage & water, and trucking in almost-expired cans of beets and corn every day.

Well, they'd have to have a separate case for the boat itself too.

They could also hold a fundraiser to equip the boat with an engine of some kind. Then, once the boat is full of completely useless people, motor out from shore some distance and sink the boat and all the useless people on it.
