Re: Carrying long guns on a motorcycle
I haven't done it yet, but I'd have no trouble carrying my Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in my Honda ST1100 saddlebags. When I still had my Honda Nighthawk 750, my son and I would break down the muzzleloader and pack it in a baseball equipment bag, and strap that to the back of the sissy bar, with a separate tool box for all the powder, balls, etc.
Non-folding long guns might be a bit of a problem; even with a scabbard I'd be worried about harassment from LEOs or attempted theft.

Re: Carrying long guns on a motorcycle
I thought it would be awesome to have Orange County Choppers do a custom build based on the Thompson. An L drum cover would make a cool air cleaner cover. Finned barrels with compensator's for the sissy bar. A portrait of General John Thompson, or even Capone on the gas tank.
I would think any style weapon across the back while on a bike would attract the men in blue.Jack
